Yoga and Zumba Fitness Schedule Updates
Yoga has been cancelled for the remainder of the month of March and will resume in April at a new time. It will be each Wednesday from 5 to 6 PM.
Zumba Fitness has been changed effective immediately to Wednesdays only from 5-6 PM.

Fitness and Nutrition Activities (Adults and Youth 14 and up)-
Zumba Fitness Classes (Adult Class) - effective April 1st, Mondays 5-6 PM only
Dad's Basketball - Thursdays at 6 PM

Activities for Youth-
Drop In Play Groups- The drop in play area is for parent and child and is available during normal business hours Monday through Friday 8 AM to 6 PM.
Nutrition Education- Harvest of the Month (HOTM) Taste Testing of Fruit and Vegetables and other presentations including Oral Health in Preschool classes each month throughout the school year.
Preschool/Kindergarten Roundup- Coming in May, we partner with the local preschools, First 5 Modoc and First 5 Siskiyou to provide support to new students that are enrolling for the next school year. We distribute new backpacks with school supplies, watch for more details!
National Child Abuse Prevention Month- In honor of National Child Abuse Prevention month we will be hosting a Poster Contest for students in grades K through 6 at Tulelake Elementary School. They will design posters that finish the sentence "I use my hands for......" Tulelake Elementary students participate year round in the Hands Are Not For Hurting Campaign. The goal of this campaign is to help end abuse and violence in homes, schools, and communities around the world. For more information visit the website at http://handsproject.org/. Posters are due by March 30th and will be judged during Spring Break. Visit the Honker during the month of April to see these wonderful works of art. Posters will also be displayed around town, at the schools and in local businesses.
Select Tulelake High School Art students will be participating in the design and completion of a mural at the Honker utilizing the Hands Are Not For Hurting theme. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the school year, watch for updates!
Community Education Events-
Nurturing Parenting for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers Series- This series is in partnership with Early Head Start and will start April 11th and run for 8 weeks ending May 30th from 1 to 2:45 PM. Enjoy singing and signing activities with your child, learn new brain development games and take home an educational toy. Childcare and healthy snacks will be provided. Call to pre-register for this FREE series, limited seating available.
Nurturing Parenting for Adolescents "The Teen Years" Series- This series will start April 11th and run for 8 weeks ending May 30th from 6 to 8 PM. Parents and Teens role-play, discuss, draw, and learn how to live with each other, learn how to play together, to communicate respectfully, and to be a positive, nurturing family. Childcare and dinner will be provided. Call to pre-register for this series, cost is $15 per family, limited seating available. This class will be offered in both Spanish and English.
Car Seat Safety Classes- third Tuesday of each month- March 20th at 3 PM, Call to register
Mandatory Preschool Parent Meetings and One Time Enrichment workshops- Sept 14, Nov 15, Jan 17, Mar 20 and May 22. These workshops are in partnership with the preschool classes and provide an opportunity for the preschool teachers to distribute information and support to all preschool parents. The second half of these meetings include enrichment topics chosen by the parents with guest facilitators from throughout the county. Dinner and Childcare provided.
April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month- We have planned a Volunteer Appreciation Event for April 20th, watch for more details. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers, we couldn't do it without you!

Facilitated by Maggie Shephard- Ms. Shephard holds degrees in Nursing and School Counseling and is currently a school Nurse and Prevention Coordinator for Siskiyou County Office of Education. Maggie brings over 25 years experience working with youth, addition and prevention education.
Call to Pre-Register for this FREE workshop that includes dinner and childcare. Teens and Pre-Teens welcome, students may be eligible for extra credit for attending this workshop!

Lana Clay the new Zumba Fitness instructor has decided to offer a special for the month of March as she starts this new Zumba Fitness Class. She would like to waive her $3 fee and hold the classes for free for Honker Members and only $2 for non-members throughout the month of March. We would like to thank everyone for the great turnout on Monday and encourage everyone to bring a friend tomorrow as we build this new class! Remember, Zumba is each Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6 PM and on two special Saturdays in March. Thanks and we hope to see you all there!

Zumba Fitness starts tonight!
Zumba Fitness starts tonight at the Honker at 5 PM and continues each Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6 PM with Zumba Fitness instructor Lana Clay. She will also be offering two Saturday Zumba Fitness classes this month March 10th from 3 - 4 PM and March 24th from 10 - 11 AM. The cost is $3 with a membership and $5 without a membership.
